Andy Warhol

  • Andy Warhol was an American Artist who created visual movement known as pop art. His work involved celebrity culture and advertisment.  Between 1945- 1949 Andy studied at the carneige institue of technology. In 1949 Warhol moved to New york and started working as a comercial artist for magazines.
    • In the 1960's he began to experiment with reproductions based on advertiments, newspaper headlines, and other mass produced images, from American popular culture such as Campbell'ssoup tins and Coca Cola bottles. In1962 he began his series of portraits of marilyn Monroe.

    • In the same year he took part in the new realists exibition in New York, which was the first important survey of pop art.

    • In 1963, Warhol began to make experimental films. His studio, known as the Factory, became a meeting point for young artists, actors, musicians and hangers-on.
